SCHOOL & COMMUNITY SUPPORT AT HERNANDEZ MENTAL HEALTH

True independence means your child can succeed in every setting—not just the clinic. Our School & Community Support program brings ABA expertise to classrooms, playgrounds, and public spaces, ensuring skills generalize and thrive wherever life happens.

IN-SCHOOL ABA SERVICES

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) provide one-on-one support, collect data, and embed evidence-based strategies right inside the classroom routine.

IEP & 504 PLAN COLLABORATION

Our BCBAs attend meetings, translate assessment data into measurable goals, and train teachers on interventions that align with state standards.

BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION PLANS (BIPs)

Function-based plans outline clear prevention, teaching, and response strategies—keeping everyone on the same page and your child on track.

COMMUNITY OUTINGS & SOCIAL PRACTICE

Therapists coach children through grocery stores, parks, and extracurricular activities, turning real-world challenges into confidence-building wins.

TEACHER & STAFF TRAINING

Practical workshops equip educators with reinforcement techniques, visual supports, and de-escalation skills that benefit the entire classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do in-school ABA hours fit into my child’s therapy authorization?

School hours are billed under the same ABA authorization; we simply allocate part of the approved hours to the educational setting.

2. Can the therapist stay for the whole school day?

Service blocks are customized—anywhere from one class period to full-day coverage—based on IEP goals and insurance allowances.

3. Will you communicate with my child’s teacher?

Absolutely. Collaboration is key; our RBTs provide daily notes and our BCBA schedules regular check-ins with school staff.

4. Are community outings safe and supervised?

Yes. Outings follow detailed safety protocols, have a low therapist-to-child ratio, and occur only after the child demonstrates readiness.

5. Does the school have to pay for this support?

No. Services are covered through your existing ABA insurance plan or Medicaid; there’s no cost to the school.
