SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS AT HERNANDEZ MENTAL HEALTH

Small-group ABA designed to turn practice into real-world friendships. Our board-certified team pairs 3-5 peers of similar age and skill level so every child can learn, laugh, and connect in a supportive setting.

FRIENDSHIP FOUNDATIONS (AGES 4-7)

Sharing, waiting, eye contact, cooperative play through songs, puppets, and turn-taking games.

CONVERSATION & PLAY (AGES 8-11)

Topic maintenance, winning / losing gracefully, flexible thinking with board games, role-play, and LEGO® therapy.

TEEN PEER CONNECTION (AGES 12-17)

Empathy, perspective taking, conflict resolution, and digital etiquette using the PEERS® curriculum.

SEASONAL COMMUNITY OUTINGS

Monthly trips to parks, cafés, or bowling alleys to generalize skills in real-life social environments.

PARENT FEEDBACK & GOAL REVIEWS

Video clips, data graphs, and home carry-over strategies shared every four weeks to keep progress on track.

1. What is the group size?

Each cohort has 3–5 participants, led by an RBT with BCBA oversight for individualized coaching.

2. How long is each cycle?

Standard cycles run 12 weeks with sessions once per week; teens may enroll in ongoing groups.

3. Is the program covered by insurance?

Yes—social-skills training is billed under your child’s authorized ABA hours. We manage all prior approvals.

4. Can parents observe sessions?

Absolutely. We offer a one-way viewing room and secure live video feed so you can watch without distracting the group.

5. How do you measure success?

Therapists track frequency and quality of targeted social behaviors; progress is graphed and reviewed with parents every four weeks.
